Las Vegas – March 26, 2014 – Shelby American, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carroll Shelby International Inc. (CSBI.PK), will rumble into Tulsa, Okla., from June 11-15, with its latest vehicles including the 624 HP Shelby GT/SC and 50th Anniversary Shelby FIA Cobra for the 40th Annual Mid-America Ford Shelby Nationals. The five-day Ford and Shelby festival will highlight the capabilities of those cars, as well as the 850 HP GT500 Super Snake and Shelby Raptor muscle truck.
“Tulsa’s Mid-America is one of the most important enthusiast events of the year,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “Ford Motor Company and Shelby American unveiled the first generation Shelby GT convertible there in 2008 and now we’re returning with the ‘reborn’ version of that car. This event is the perfect opportunity to put our ultra-performance vehicles through their paces on the road circuit at Hallett and the Tulsa drag strip, then demonstrate how docile they are on the Thursday night downtown cruise in.”
Shelby American’s high performance line-up includes the terrain-dominating Shelby Raptor, wickedly powerful GT500 Super Snake and the new Shelby GT/SC. Those in attendance will be among the first to experience the 50th Anniversary FIA Shelby Cobra. To celebrate the birth of the 289 Ford powered roadsters, Shelby American is building 50 limited edition continuation (CSX7000) Shelby 289 FIA Cobras. The car is painted “Viking Blue” with FIA stripes and roundels, features a black FIA interior, special billet anniversary badges, original style wheels and a variety of additional options.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, June 11, with a high-speed driving school at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, where instructors will help drivers become comfortable in their own Ford or Shelby on the track. Three days of open track competition at Hallett will follow, where spectators can see Shelby factory drivers pushing the limit and showing off the incredible performance capabilities of the latest Shelby models.
The Friday night banquet will feature speakers from Ford and Shelby American during a four-course dinner at the Southern Hills Marriott. Saturday has been expanded to a full day on the drag strip at Tulsa Raceway Park. Sunday will cap-off the week with the All Ford Super Car Show with more than 40 classes.
The Shelby GT/SC and Shelby Raptor, as well as all other Shelby vehicles, are available through the Shelby American headquarters in Las Vegas or at www.shelbyamerican.com. For more information on the event, visit www.midamericafordteamshelby.com
