2015 NISSAN SENTRA

2015 Nissan Sentra

The highly successful seventh-generation Nissan Sentra, introduced in fall 2012, continues to be refined for the 2015 model year with a number of interior comfort and convenience enhancements – all which add value to an already outstanding array of standard and available features and equipment.

In addition, four new exterior colors are offered for 2015 (11 colors total): Titanium, Red Alert (SR only), Cayenne Red and Fresh Powder.

As the previous years, Sentra continues to offer class-above design standards inside and out, as well as efficiency in engineering. Sentra utilizes a fuel-efficient 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine, which along with the next-generation Xtronic transmission with sub-planetary gear, helps the Sentra FE+ S model deliver 30 mpg city/40 mpg highway and 34 mpg combined – resulting in a more than 415-mile real-world driving range*.

Modern, Premium Design and Class-Above Interior
Sentra’s exterior design is elegant, modern and refined, reflecting a “professional” character targeted at upwardly bound buyers who aspire to drive something more premium than some of the other designs in the segment. It adopts Nissan’s bold signature trapezoid-shaped grille and large wraparound headlights with standard LED accents. In the rear, LED taillights are also standard, which complement the sophisticated styling.

Other exterior features include chrome door handles and chrome window accents, available heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, and available sport front and rear fascias and rear spoiler. The coefficient of drag is a low 0.29.

Sentra’s long wheelbase (106.3 inches) provides roomy total interior volume of 111.0 cubic feet, one of the largest interior volumes in class, along with ample rear seat legroom and large trunk capacity. Rear seat legroom of 37.4 inches is among the largest in class and immediately apparent to occupants, even with the front seats in the rear-most position. The rear seat is a standard 60/40-split fold-down design, offering versatile access to expand the already ample 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space.

The high-quality look and feel of the exterior continues inside with materials not usually found in compact vehicles, including a soft-touch instrument panel and door armrests, available leather-appointed seating and available Maple wood-tone trim.  Along with offering mid-size roominess in a compact-size exterior, the intuitive interior layout emphasizes driver control and outstanding seat comfort for all occupants. The instrument panel curves out towards the doors and features Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges that are backlit even in daylight, providing a high-quality look that is also easy to read.

Standard interior features include a 6-way manual driver’s seat, 4-way manual front passenger’s seat, front and rear door pockets, front center console with padded armrest and cupholders, rear seat armrest with cupholders, air conditioning with in-cabin microfilter, available Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system, tilt and telescopic steering column, power windows with driver’s one-touch auto up/down with auto reverse, power door locks with auto-locking feature, remote keyless entry and remote trunk and fuel-filler door releases.

The standard audio system is an AM/FM/CD system with four speakers and USB connection for iPod® and other compatible devices. Other available systems include a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD system with 5.0-inch color display; and a Bose® Premium audio system with eight speakers and an amplifier that has been specially tuned to either the cloth or leather interior for best performance.

Also available is SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately) and standard Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.

NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps
The 2015 Sentra offers advanced technology features that help owners stay connected. NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps is an advanced system featuring a 5.8-inch color touch-screen monitor, NissanConnectSM Apps, Nissan Voice Recognition for audio and navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link® (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant. It is available on SV, SR and SL models as part of the Navigation Package.

Standard on all grades except Sentra S is NissanConnectSM with Mobile Apps, which includes Online Search powered by Google™, Pandora® and Facebook. Other available technology ranges from the RearView Monitor and Nissan Intelligent Key® with illuminated Push Button Ignition to the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy-Fill Tire Alert feature. If air is being added or removed from a tire, the system signals the user when the recommended tire pressure has been reached by sounding the horn.

Fuel-Efficient 1.8-liter Engine and Advanced Xtronic Transmission
The 2015 Sentra’s outstanding balance of performance and fuel efficiency is anchored by an advanced 1.8-liter DOHC 4-cyinder. The engine offers a longer stroke than typical engines in its class, resulting in improved combustion speed and efficiency. The engine is equipped with a twin Continuously Variable Timing Control (CVTC) system which modulates both the intake and exhaust valve opening time (similar to that used on the flagship Nissan Maxima).

The engine’s internal friction has been reduced (versus the previous design), improving efficiency. In addition, the valve springs are shaped similar to a beehive, with a smaller diameter towards the top – reducing inertial weight, improving valvetrain efficiency and smoothing engine operation. The engine is rated at 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque.

The engine is matched with a new-generation Xtronic transmission (a 6-speed manual is available on the Sentra S model). The Xtronic features a host of enhancements (versus the previous generation) that contribute to an improvement in fuel efficiency and lower vehicle weight. It offers a wide gear ratio range of 7.3:1 through use of a sub-planetary gear and smaller pulleys, resulting in high-speed fuel efficiency and responsive acceleration. The Xtronic’s acceleration feel is enhanced with a D-mode step shift program that simulates shifts, giving a more natural acceleration feeling without holding a high rpm constant, letting rpms build as speed builds.

Fuel economy is rated at 29 miles per gallon city, 39 miles per gallon highway and 33 miles per gallon combined with the Xtronic transmission. The Sentra FE+ S grade achieves 40 mpg on the highway.

Sentra again features an independent strut front suspension with stabilizer bar, torsion beam rear axle with integrated stabilizer bar. A power-assisted vented front disc/rear drum braking system (4-wheel disc brakes are available) is standard along with retuned vehicle-speed-sensitive electric power steering.

Available wheels and tires include 16-inch steel wheels with full covers or 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 205/55R16 size all-season tires, for S and SV grades, along with 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 205/50R17 all-season tires for SR and SL grades.

A Range of Well-Equipped Models
The 2015 Nissan Sentra is offered in a selection of six well-equipped trim levels: S 6MT, S Xtronic, FE+ S, SV, SR and SL. All trims levels come with the fuel-efficient Xtronic transmission, except the base Sentra S 6MT that comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission.

In addition to the Sentra S model’s long list of previous and added standard features, the Sentra SV model adds Nissan Intelligent Key®, two additional speakers, 5.0-inch color display, RearView Monitor, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth®, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant, SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, sliding front armrest, Easy-Fill Tire Alert, illuminated steering wheel audio controls, vehicle security system and premium cloth seating and door trim.

The Sentra FE+ S includes a rear spoiler, rear tire and underbody aerodynamic deflectors and low rolling resistance tires.

Inside, the Sentra SR includes sport silver interior trim, premium sport cloth seats and driver’s seatback pocket, and heated front seats. Sentra SR also adds standard rear disc brakes.

Six option packages are available for the 2015 Sentra.
