- Mazda improves ‘Overall’ brand ranking to finish ahead of premium competition
As a brand, Mazda has significantly improved its ranking in the 2014 Overall Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Index, climbing 11 places from last year to finish 9th among all nameplates ahead of competitors, garnering 778 points out of a possible 1000.
Mazda models have received top three positions in three categories of the 2014 J.D Power UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study (VOSS).
The Madza2 was ranked 2nd place in the ‘Small Car’ category, the evergreen Mazda MX-5 2nd place in the ‘Sporty’ category and the Mazda6 3rd place in the ‘Mid-Size’ category.
“Everything we do at Mazda, every convention we challenge, is dedicated to making things better for our customers,” said Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda UK. “So we are absolutely delighted to have our unique approach appreciated by such a strong performance of satisfaction from those customers themselves.”
Through a survey of 15,562 new vehicle owners whose cars were originally registered between January 2011 and December 2012, the 2014 J.D. Power VOSS provides automotive manufacturers and consumers with an objective measure of the satisfaction levels of those owners throughout the UK.
Overall customer satisfaction in the VOSS is measured in four categories (in order of importance): Vehicle Appeal (31%); Ownership Costs (25%); Service Satisfaction (22%); and Vehicle Quality and Reliability (22%). Scores for each category are reflected in an index based on a 1000 point scale.
Within these core categories, in-depth evaluation spans a comprehensive spectrum of ownership-related topics ranging from ‘vehicle appeal covering 56 different aspects of the car’ and a report on ‘the owner’s most recent dealer service experience’, to a detailed study of ’90 possible problem areas’.
In jumping 11 places to finish 9th among all nameplates in this year’s J.D. Power Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Index, Mazda has continued to buck the trend by recording far and away the greatest improvement over the 2013 rankings of any of the 26 brands featured.
Combining a substantial investment in its dealer network this year with the ongoing launch of 6th generation models powered by SKYACTIV technology, which delivers outstanding fuel efficiency and low emissions without compromising performance, Mazda is confident of even further improving customer satisfaction in the future.
