Ford and Cosworth are one of the greatest partnerships in motoring history, and Silverstone Auctions is offering no less than three of the first Fords to bear the Cosworth name in its sale at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show on the 15th and 16th of November.
The first, is perhaps one of the most special examples of this powerful automotive combination. On offer is a 1986 Sierra RS Cosworth, estimated at between £25,000 to £30,000, which was the sixth production ‘Cossie’ and was the sole personal transport of Cosworth co-founder Mike Costin for many years.
Presented in the best colour of white and having covered only 63,500 miles, the car can be described as the pinnacle road RS Cosworth. It is completely original even retaining its mild steel exhaust. Most recently, it has resided in the reception area of Cosworth’s global HQ for nearly fifteen years.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “This car offers Ford and Cosworth fans alike the opportunity to own a ‘real genetics’ example of a truly iconic car and must surely be one of the best road RS Cosworths around.”
This very significant car comes with all previous logbook types endorsing the ownership and a letter of authenticity from Cosworth themselves.
The car joins two other Sierra RS Cosworths in the sale at the NEC in Birmingham. A stunning 1987 model, with an unwarranted 3,500 miles having been in private storage for many years with little use on UK roads, is estimated at £18,000 to £25,000. Also joining the sale is a 1986 example, presented in rare moonstone blue, estimated at £12,000 to £15,000.
Nick added, “We are extremely proud to have the opportunity to be involved with the sale of these fantastic Sierra RS Cosworths, a car that truly spawned and defined touring car racing in the eighties.”
