Technology and Driver Assistance
The Audi Q7 sets new standards with respect to the latest MMI, infotainment technologies, and driver assistance features:
- Available Audi virtual cockpit features a large, 12.3-inch display that delivers vibrant color at 60 frames per second with NVIDIA® quad core processing power. The virtual cockpit helps make viewing and navigating via the large Google Map images supported with 4G LTE (where available) easier on the drivers’ eyes. It also allows for a better view of the road ahead via the full map display and through its placement directly in front of the driver. The virtual cockpit is fully controllable via the steering wheel as well as the MMI controls on the center console
- Available full-color head-up display, projecting relevant driving information directly in the driver’s field of vision
- In the case of an impending accident, Audi pre sense® basic can intervene to prepare the vehicle for impact. This process includes closing the side windows and panoramic sunroof, pretensioning the front safety belts, and preparing the brake system for a quicker response during an unexpected or emergency maneuver
- Standard Audi pre sense city detects cornering and stationary vehicles as well as pedestrians, at speeds of up to 52 mph and initiates full braking when a potential collision is detected.
- Available Audi pre sense plus (part of Driver Assistance package) supplements Audi pre sense city with a collision warning, as well as emergency braking up to 137 mph.
- Audi pre sense rear (standard on Premium Plus and Prestige trims) helps monitor the traffic following the vehicle and takes similar actions to Audi pre sense basic.
- Vehicle exit assist can help prevent accidents with a side assist warning light which blinks and notifies the driver when vehicles or cyclists are approaching from behind as the vehicle doors are opened.
- Rear cross traffic alert supports the driver when reversing out of a perpendicular parking space. Indicator arrows in the MMI® display can inform the driver of approaching vehicles, and in critical situations, a warning tone and brake jolt can be applied, prompting the driver to stop the vehicle.
- In the event that a sharp maneuver is needed to avoid a collision, collision avoidance assist supports the driver when turning into the adjacent lane
- Turn assist can assess the risk of oncoming traffic, when making a left-hand turn at an intersection (when the vehicle is stopped or under 7 mph and turn signal is activated)
- Optional Adaptive cruise control with stop & go and traffic jam assist automatically maintains distance from the vehicle in front, including braking and accelerating to help maintain a set distance. Between 0-37 mph, traffic jam assist combines acceleration, braking and steering guidance, which can take the stress out of driving in congested traffic.
- The available Bang & Olufsen® 3D Advanced Sound System option creates a previously unexperienced feeling of spaciousness and audio playback within the vehicle. The interior feels acoustically larger as music can be reproduced in its most original and intended form:
- Specifics:
- 23 speakers including Acoustic Lens Technology (ALT)
- 23-channel BeoCore amplifier with ICEpower® technology
- 1,920 watts and 5.1 Surround Sound
- Specifics:
- In addition to the traditional MMI® scroll wheel capabilities, MMI all-in-touch (MMI® navigation plus package) adds ‘Menu’ and ‘Back’ functions, two touch keys for horizontal menu control logic, eight storage buttons for radio station presets, and the ability to move the map or zoom in/out using swipe or pinch motions respectively
- Audi drive select includes up to seven modes. Standard drive select includes Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Offroad and Individual settings. Available air suspension equipped cars also include, an Allroad setting that raises the ride height by 25mm and an Offroad/Lift setting that raises the ride height by 60mm

FIVE STARS FOR AUDI Q7 IN EURO NCAP CRASH TEST
- Top grade for active and passive safety
- Audi pre sense city with emergency braking function standard
- Very good child safety; up to six child seats can be installed
September 02, 2015 | INGOLSTADT, Germany — The European Euro NCAP consortium has awarded the new Audi Q7 with the top grade of five stars for safety. The results for adult protection in frontal and side impact collisions, pedestrian protection and child safety put the Audi Q7 among the safest cars in its category. The new Audi Q7 is expected to go on sale in the U.S. market by early 2016.
The European testers gave the model the top grade of five stars for safety. The results for the rear passengers in a frontal impact collision show that not only are the driver and front passenger in the Audi Q7 very well protected, the rear passengers are too. The car also offers plenty of room and a high level of safety for children. Up to six child seats can be installed in the SUV. The generous space makes their installation simple and comfortable. The individual seats in the optional third row are fully usable and are also certified for ECE Group III child seats for children weighing up to 36 kilograms (79.4 lb).
The model received the “Euro NCAP Advanced” reward for the multicollision brake assist system and for Audi pre sense basic, which in danger situations tensions the seatbelt before a collision and closes the windows and sunroof. The multicollision brake assist system initiates braking automatically in case of an accident to reduce the risk of skidding and the danger of further collisions. Both systems are standard in the Q7.
Audi also places maximum value on integral safety, going above and beyond the measures assessed by the institution. A central element in the Audi Q7 is the standard Audi pre sense city, a predictive warning and emergency braking system for accident avoidance and the protection of pedestrians. At speeds up to 85 km/h (52.8 mph), the system observes the road with respect to other road users. On threat of a collision, it warns the driver according to a graduated concept: warning, warning jolt and automatic emergency braking.
If necessary, it initiates full deceleration. Up to 40 km/h (24.9 mph) accidents can be avoided completely within the system limits. At higher speeds (up to 85 km/h (52.8 mph)) the driver is warned. In addition, Audi pre sense city uses brake intervention to reduce the impact velocity and thus mitigate the consequences of the accident.
Other new assistance systems that make the Audi Q7 even safer in traffic are the collision avoidance assist, turn assist and exit warning. Whereas the collision avoidance assist helps the driver to drive around an obstacle to avoid an accident, the turn assist monitors oncoming traffic when turning left at low speed. In a dangerous situation, it brakes the Q7 to a complete stop, if necessary, to prevent a turn if there is oncoming traffic. With the exit warning, LEDs light up red when the doors are opened if other vehicles or bicycles are approaching from the rear.
Established in 1997, the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) investigates the crash performance of new car models. In 2015 the consortium made the requirements for the front and side impact collision tests even tougher in order to reflect actual accident scenarios even more accurately.
