- Global sales of 29,257 cars, up 8.4 per cent versus August last year
- China sales up 42.5 per cent in August

August marked another month of positive momentum for Volvo Cars with retail sales of 29,257 cars, up 8.4 per cent compared to the same month last year, driven by a strong performance in key markets.
Volvo Cars’ largest market China reported August sales amounting to 6,154 cars, up 42.5 per cent versus last year. The Volvo XC60 crossover was the best-selling model followed by the S60L sedan.
In Sweden, Volvo Cars outperformed the market by selling 3,167 cars, up 6.2 per cent from last year driven by growing demand for Volvo’s XC-range carlines.
Europe was another bright spot in August with the Volvo XC60 and the V40 models boosting sales to 8,918 cars, up 19.4 per cent versus last year. Both Germany and France grew more than 50 per cent in August. The Volvo V40 is the best-selling model in Europe with its class-leading engines offering outstanding performance in combination with low CO2 emissions.
The United States was Volvo Cars’ second largest market in August with 4,961 retail sold cars. The Volvo S60 and XC60 models were the best-selling models during the month.
“With continued positive developments in key markets, Volvo Cars is clearly on track towards an all-time high sales result for this year,” says Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars. “I am also extremely pleased with the positive reactions we saw at the global launch of the all-new Volvo XC90, which shows that we have chosen the right direction for our future models.”

The Volvo XC60 was the best-selling model in August with 8,695 sold cars (2013: 7,646), followed by the Volvo V40 and V40 Cross Country for which deliveries reached a total of 6,213 cars (6,022). The third best-selling model was the Volvo V60 with 3,584 cars (3,243).
VOLVO ANNOUNCES AUGUST U.S. SALES
ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (Sept. 3, 2014) – Volvo Cars of North America, LLC, (VCNA) reported U.S. sales of 4,960 units for the month of August. Year-to-date sales are down 11 percent versus the first eight months of 2013.
The top seller for August was the XC60 crossover with 1,792 units sold, while the S60 sports sedan finished the month right behind with 1,724 units sold.
